I grew up in a very natural environment, Where I spent most of my time outdoors in Michigan. Living on a lake supplied me with a flow of landscape ideas which spill over into my current view of the Montana mountains which alone is a major force of inspiration for my lifestyle and my paintings.
This project is a series of Surreal/Impressionistic paintings in acrylic and oil pastel, inspired by the United States National Parks.
Our parks in general are a place of safekeeping our history, early heritage, natural resources, and environmental consciousness. I have been inspired to paint scenes from various locations in the parks and highlight the ecologic difficulty they all face in one way or another in an impressionist style. I'm hoping to convey the sheer magnitude and diverse beauty the parks have to offer, along with their innate fragility that can manifest in adverse conditions.
